Psycon
Psycon is an active club dedicated to enhancing the experience and appreciation of psychology among students through a variety of social and educational activities. The club provides students with a platform to study and explore the current issues and trends in the field of psychology.
Due to the pandemic, Psycon’s activities were conducted on its social media platform-
Catharsfc. Apart from posting regularly about general mental health issues and specifically the
issues everyone is facing due to the pandemic, a number of activities are conducted that had a
wide reach and saw the students participating with enthusiasm.
Observing the Suicide Prevention Week, the psychology students put out a video encouraging
people to check in on others on September 10, 2020. For World Mental Health Day, 10th
October, 2020, Dear Covid-19, an online creative writing competition was held. Observing the
Stress Awareness Month in April 2021, #relatable, a platform to showcase creativity through
Instagram tools and illustrations was set up to encourage dialogue about one’s stressful
experiences in the pandemic.
Suicide Prevention Week:
A video focusing on reaching out to one’s friends and family during
tough times was made by students from BA 2 and BA 3. Indian regional languages were used in
the video to increase its reach. It has over 3200 views.
World Mental Health Day:
Dear Covid-19, a creative writing competition for which
participants were required to write a poem or an essay on the topic, 'Mental health and the
pandemic' was held. The winners of the competition were announced on November 18, 2020.
They arePriya Aamuktha Kilambi( BA 1 PLP ), Keziah Lavanya ( BA 1 PLP ) and Ishan
Dashottar( BA 1 PLP ).
Stress Awareness Month:
"#relatable'', a platform to showcase creativity through Instagram
tools such as Reels and popular culture content such as Memes and Illustrations was held. The
winners of the competition were announced on 23rd April, 2021. They are- Vasudha bharade(
BA 1 PLP ), Krithika. S ( BA 1 PPP) and Rochana Rajkumar (BA 2 PPP).
Psycon has been actively involved in:
- Organizing exhibitions like Insight and Footprints
- Staging plays like Sybil and Sins Of The Mother
- Organizing field trips
- Arranging voluntary service drives, internships and presentations at schools, colleges, NGOs, orphanages, old age homes, rehabilitation & drug addiction centres, hospitals & at the ARDSI
