Introduction

Part of a global network of American Spaces, the American Corner in Hyderabad was established in 2013 through a cooperative agreement between St. Francis College for Women and the U.S. Consulate General in Hyderabad. Annually, our Corner serves more than 2,000 visitors and engages about 3,000 participants through events and activities.

Participation in American Corner Hyderabad activities is free and open to everyone in the community. Visitors and program attendees include university students, journalists, scholars and researchers, faculty, entrepreneurs, community leaders, teachers, youth, national corps cadets, government officials, and more.

The American Corner in Hyderabad is open Monday through Friday, 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm, except for holidays and university closures.

American Spaces showcase the United States' core values and reflect the American spirit to international audiences. American Spaces are where the world and America meet.

Mission

American Corner Hyderabad is a welcoming, open-access educational space. Corner programs foster a greater understanding of the United States and offer opportunities for the United States to connect with aspiring leaders.

Activities celebrate and share information about American history, culture, places, and perspectives. Activities also include skill-building workshops and expert-led masterclasses that leverage American best practices, innovation, and achievements to inspire collaboration between our two nations.

Activities

"America250 Club"

  • Chat with a Diplomat – Interactive conversations with U.S. Diplomats on shared priority topics.
  • Community Dialogue – Open discourse and facilitated debate on issues of regional and global importance.
  • Cinema Circle – Discussion and screening of classic American films.
  • Reading Group – A study of American literature, with articles, poems, and books read in advance and discussed monthly.

Educational Workshops

  • English Language Learning, including advanced spoken and written communication skills.
  • Critical and emerging technologies, with a focus on AI and Cybersecurity.
  • American sports; eSports club.

Leadership Development

  • Leadership Workshops – Learn American best practices in entrepreneurship, civic engagement, higher education, and public policy.
  • Volunteering and Internships – Participate and lead programs at American Corner Hyderabad.
  • Corner Ambassador Program (CAP) – Serve as a liaison between your institution and the American Corner, promoting outreach to share American Corner resources and opportunities with your community.

eLibraryUSA

  • Available at Corner Hyderabad at no cost to visitors, eLibraryUSA is a digital collection of informational resources from the United States, including American newspapers, magazines, academic journals, books, dissertations, and award-winning films and videos.
  • Visit us in-person at the American Corner to learn more about how to apply for an offsite eLibraryUSA account, boosting your ability to research, stay informed, and connect to the United States.
  • Great resources for teachers of English, international affairs, American studies, political science, and more.

Collaborative Partnerships

The American Corner welcomes partnerships with educational institutions, community groups, and organizations that share its mission and values.

In collaboration with American Corner Hyderabad, St. Francis College for Women has organized an impactful series of workshops, conferences, and training sessions. The following are just a few highlights among many initiatives conducted under this partnership.

  • Gen AI Bootcamp, a two-day workshop on Artificial Intelligence tools held on 6–7 January 2025.
  • Agentic AI: Creative Intelligence in Action, a hands-on workshop conducted on 19–20 June 2025.
  • American Corner Model United Nations (MUN) 2025, organized on 3–4 February 2025, providing students with exposure to global diplomacy and leadership.
  • A Guest Lecture on "Digital Hygiene and Cybersecurity" held on 11 December 2024.
  • Ten guest lectures and two student training workshops on promoting STEM through Robotics, conducted between January and March 2024.
  • A Seminar on Independent Filmmaking by Caroline Libresco, held in September 2024.
  • A Masterclass on Reporting on Disability, organized on 20 September 2023.
  • A Series of Guest Lectures on Esports, conducted from November 2023 to February 2024.
  • A Two-Day Workshop on Best Practices in Entrepreneurship, held in June 2023.
  • A Student Training Workshop on Resilience: Managing Climate Impacts, organized on 10–11 July 2023.
  • A Student Training Workshop on Creating Short Videos for Natural Disaster Response and Managing Climate Impacts, conducted in three phases from April to June 2023.

Students and faculty of St. Francis engage actively in every program organised by American Corner Hyderabad. This engagement demonstrates our dedication to partnership with the U.S. Mission to India and our shared commitment to empower India's next generation of leaders.

Students have strengthened their academic capabilities and civic awareness by participating in Corner workshops, training, and bootcamps. Faculty have contributed in the capacity of moderators and coordinators of various programs. By collaborating with American Corner Hyderabad, St. Francis College for Women is preparing our students to be responsible, successful, globally engaged citizens.
