The Equal Opportunity Cell is a vital body dedicated to fostering an inclusive and equitable environment for all staff and students, with a particular focus on Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST), Other Backward Class (OBC), Minorities, and Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in the college community.

Core Functions and Aims:

 

The Cell operates on a continuous basis to address issues and grievances faced by these marginalized communities within the academic setting. Its primary goals include:

  • Promoting Diversity and Inclusivity: Ensuring that disadvantaged groups have ample opportunities within the institution.
  • Sensitization and Awareness: Educating the academic community about the challenges of social exclusion and working towards fulfilling the aspirations of marginalized groups.
  • Grievance Redressal: Promptly investigating and resolving complaints from students belonging to weaker sections of society.
  • Accessibility: Striving to ensure barrier-free access to all college buildings,including departments, library and offices, particularly for PWDs.
  • Psychological Support: Offering counselling and support tailored to the needs of PWDs across various categories (visual, hearing, neurological, etc.)
  • Resource Mobilization: Collaborating with government bodies and other organizations to secure academic and financial resources for disadvantaged students.
  • Ensuring Fair Representation:Working to guarantee the due share of utilization by SC/ST categories in admissions and recruitments (both teaching and non-teaching posts).
  • Preventing Discrimination: Actively working to eliminate any form of discrimination within the college based on disability or minority status.

 

In essence, the Equal Opportunity Cell acts as a cornerstone for creating a fair, supportive, and accessible environment for everyone, upholding the principles of equality and social justice within the educational sphere.

 

  • SC/ST CELL is established in the college as per the UGC guidelines to empower the SC/ST students. The institution supports these students by providing guidance to get financial assistance from government agencies and other sources. The students are encouraged to participate in career orientation and skill enhancement programs. It acts as a support and grievance redressal body.

 

  • Assist students in availing scholarships, fellowships, and financial aid.
  • Create a supportive environment for academic and personal growth.

 

  • Collect data on SC/ST students and staff
  • Organize orientation and mentorship programs.
  • Provide guidance and counseling services.
  • Maintain records of complaints and resolutions.
  • Facilitate the implementation of central/state government schemes for SC/ST students.
