The Department of Biochemistry dates back to 15th June 1996, when it took its origin under the banner of restructured courses in life sciences. Over the past years, the Department has been constantly revising, updating and restructuring its syllabus to keep pace with the rapid advances in Biochemistry.The curriculum includes an internship program in Clinical biochemistry, co-curricular activities like visits to research and industrial laboratories, hands-on training and projects of day-to-day relevance few among manyattempts to enhance interest in students to pursue a career in the field of biochemistry.
Objectives
- To prepare students for careers in science as both researchers and educators
- To inculcate critical and analytical skills in the students coupled with independent thinking and problem-solving abilities by adopting Innovative teaching methods
- To foster a research temperament and enhance interpersonal and teamwork among the students by assigning group projects
- To promote student progression to PG courses
