Department of Psychology

The Department of Psychology endeavours to create a knowledge base to help individuals cope and deal successfully with real world problems.

Qualified psychologists are needed in almost every sector of society like education, health, research and also in various organisations and institutions. The Department of Psychology was started in the year 1973, under the guidance of Rev. Sr. Valeria D’Silva. Under her leadership, the department grew in leaps and bounds, and successfully established Psychology as a scientific discipline, with laboratory sessions included. Psychology is now one of the most popular subjects in the Arts faculty at St. Francis College for Women. The Department strives to ensure that its students understand the intricacies of human thoughts, feelings, emotions and behaviours. The Department organizes workshops on suicide prevention, art therapy, hug booth, training for first responders and the like. Its vibrant Psycon club provides a platform to budding students to use class room knowledge in practical situations
