Capacity Building
The Department organises guest lectures and workshops enabling the students to improve their knowledge of the French language. The Department organises an intercollegiate fest called ‘La Fête Nationale – Le 14 Juillet’ commemorating the French National Day where the culture and heritage of France is celebrated through various activities and competitions like quiz, collage making, JAM, photography, etc.
Highlights
- Guest lecture titled, “DELF: Your Future in French” in the month of July, 2018 with Mrs. Manisha Kumar, the Course Director of Alliance Française of Hyderabad as the resource person. The lecture focused on how the students could attain an international diploma (DELF) in French through learning the language in college, a major exposure and boost for their career and future in the international arena.
- 'La Fête Nationale – Le 14 Juillet’ was the first fest of its kind at St. Francis College for Women and was also, one of the first French fests to be held in such a large capacity in the twin cities. Competitions held included quiz, collage-making, PowerPoint presentations, face painting and JAM.
- The Christmas season saw the creativity and innovation of the students exhibited in the various competitions like collage-making online mobile photography competitions.
- Workshop organised on “Réussir le DELF A1” every year by industry experts to
prepare the students to succeed in the DELF international diploma examination.
- La Fête Nationale – Le 14 Juillet’ was the first fest of its kind at St. Francis College
for Women and was also, one of the first French fests to be held in such a large
capacity in the twin cities. Competitions held included quiz, collage-making,
PowerPoint presentations, face painting and JAM.
- ‘French Language Day’ observed to celebrate multilingualism and cultural diversity
for the first time ever in March/April, 2021.
- Webinars, Workshops on DELF-DALF examinations and French National Day
celebrations conducted online during the pandemic.
Achievements
- Ms. Swetha Rachel, Head – Dept of French published a paper on the Educational
Landscape of French Language in Hyderabad, a study conducted over a period of three
years (2015-2018).
- K.C. Nandini, student of B.A. HLP final year scored the second rank in Concours
Romain Rolland A1 and Concours Romain Rolland A2.
