Life Skills

Life skills help youths to transit successfully from childhood to adulthood by healthy development of social and emotional skills. It helps in the development of social competence and problem-solving skills, which in turn helps youths to form their own identity. It helps to weigh pros and cons of the situation, hence act as a mediator to problem solving behavior. It promotes the development of positive self-esteem and behavior control.

The faculty of B. Voc. makes sure that the students incorporate life skills as a part of their course training. Some of the best visits made were to Dialogue in the Dark and Talking Hands. Both these restaurants are managed by specially abled people and the visits to these places connected the students emotionally as to how one can achieve anything by making use of the senses gifted.

Soft Skills

When students move beyond school into their careers, soft skills are listed the same as hard skills such as data analysis or mathematics. Someone applying for a job can point to their degree in these areas, which suggest they made enough grades in these areas. However, B. Voc. students will also list soft skills like “detail-oriented” or “leadership.” Since hiring managers look at both hard and soft skills, it is important for activities to be developed that teach both. B. Voc. emphasizes on teamwork and helps integrate the soft skills into existing courses.

  • The modern workplace is interpersonal. Collaborations are an integral component of any workplace. Skills such as listening and writing ensure that there is a smooth flow of ideas without any conflicts. This creates a productive and healthy work environment.
  • Soft skills set one apart. Good communication and negotiation skills can help one gain an edge over other candidates. Hard skills can be learnt in a limited time, but these skills are harder and take longer to develop, since they depend more on your nature rather than knowledge level. Having these skills can help you deal with challenges in the workplace.
  • They complement hard skills. Technical skills are not enough to bring out the best in a job. All careers require soft skills to utilize technical expertise at the right time and place. For example, if an executive is trying to close a deal with a customer, they will need sales knowledge along with excellent communication skills.
  • Future workplaces will depend more on these skills. With advancements in technology, many technical jobs are beginning to be outsourced to automation and artificial intelligence (AI). This will result in more jobs relying on soft skills to be the key differentiators in a workplace.
Motor Skills & Personality Development

Workshops are a great way for students to learn about various subjects by the means of putting their skills into practice. The Department of B.Voc. (RM & IT) believes in providing an array of motor skills and personality development workshops to the students that serve as opportunities for them to learn better and bring out the best within themselves. Through this, the students are able to coordinate with each other while working and gain adequate knowledge. Motor skills training like Zumba Training Workshop by Mr. Sree Roy Chandu from Chandu’s Wow Dance and Fitness Studio are organised for all the students of the Department of B. Voc. (RM & IT). The objective is to incorporate high intensity interval training with Synced Music and motivation which activates a person both physically and mentally.
