Students Achievements – Ph.D.

• Shalini Rachel pursuing Ph.D. under the guidance of Dr. M. Shailaja Raj: Presented paper and won second prize for “Standardization of fermentation conditions for production of bioethanol from floral wastes" at Two-day National Seminar on Eco-Friendly Strategies for sustainable environment on 28th and 29th February, 2020 at Bhavan's Vivekananda College of Science, Humanities and Commerce, Sainikpuri, Secunderabad.
• K. Suman pursuing Ph.D. under the guidance of Dr. B. Aruna: Presented paper and won second prize for “Isolation and preliminary screening of exopolysaccharides producing Lactic acid bacteria from fermented foods” at UGC-SAP sponsored national conference on Innovations and New Horizons in Microbial Technology held on 6th and 7th March, 2019 at Sri Padmavati MahilaVisvavidyalayam, Tirupati.

• As a part of Social Outreach initiatives M.Sc. I yr students every year visit Institute for Vision Rehabilitation, L.V. Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad and provided oral material, typed textbook material and tutorial service for the visually impaired students for a period of two months in the second semester of their academic programme.
• During COVID-19 lockdown period PG students participated in online Webinars, Workshops and Conferences at State, National and International level organized by different Academic Institutes and Research Institutes. Students also participated in participated in online certificate courses like Coursera, Covid-19 operational planning guidelines, preparedness and responses (WHO).

• Ch. Sowmya of BSc IIIC has participated in Telangana state chess championship for women, Hyderabad on 20th January 2020 and secured 12th rank at state level.
• Ch. Sowmya of BSc IIIC has participated in Telangana state youth under 25 open chess championship -2019 on 29th -30th June and secured 50th rank.

• Priti kumari of BSc IIIc has participated in National work shop cum training on cheminformatics and its applications in research and drug industry conducted by Nizam college , Hyderabad in collaboration with IIT Madras from 19th -20th july 2019.

2018 - 2021

• Ashwarya and Rushika of BSC II C has participated in Vajrang rangoli competition on 14th August organized by the Department Of Microbiology, St. francis college and secured consolation prize.

2019 - 2022

• Sri Ram Harshini of BSc I C has secured 2nd prize in ‘Microbes for a clean environment’ at Microvista 2k .2.0- a National level inter collegiate event organized by Department of Microbiology, St. xaviers college , Goa on 22nd January 2020.
• The students of B.Sc. l C and III C visited St. Anthony’s Old age Home & Orphanage, Malkajgiri, Hyderabad on 4th December 2019 and helped the needy, Visited Anthony's orphanage, interacted with the kids presented Christmas tree followed by cake cutting. Microbiology IDE students went on a field trip to Tripura Bio-Tech and Prathista Industry, Choutuppal, Yadadribhongir, 6th February 2020.

• Dr. M. Shailaja Raj received on Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Life time achievement National Award” from Krist foundation, Bangalore on 27th October 2018 at ADA Ramga Mandira, Bangalore.
• Dr. M. Shailaja Raj organized three day National Workshop On “Recent trends in Bioinformatics for Exploratory Analysis of Biological Data” on 16th- 18th January 2020.
• Dr. Y. V. S. Annapurna awarded Ph.D in 2018.
• K. Swathi secured 2nd prize in Zero Cooking event at Natale 2018, Organized by St. Francis College for women.
• Dr. Anitha Thomas awarded Ph.D in August 2019.
• Dr. Anitha Thomas was awarded “Service Excellence Award” instituted by Alumnae Association in Sept 2019.
• Ms. Gayathri Y submitted Ph.D. thesis on 19th Feb, 2020

Sunita presented a paper on “Effect of microbial and biosynthesized silver nanoparticles in increasing the shelf life of different foods ” in three days online national seminar at TEQIP-III Sponsored Online National Conference On “Frontiers in Biotechnology and Bioengineering” (NCFBB 2020) 16th to 18th july, 2020, organized by centre for biotechnology, IST, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad.
