Student exchange programmes equip the students with awareness and adoption of alternative, multi-faceted approaches to learning.
- Department of Microbiology at St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa, Goa along with UG students visited Department of Microbiology, St. Francis College for Women, Begumpet, Hyderabad on 26th & 27th November, 2019.
- As a further extension to this Department of Microbiology, St. Francis College for Women, Begumpet along with their PG and UG students visited St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa, Goa on 22nd & 23rd January, 2020 participated in Microvista 2k 2.0
“VAJRANG”- Rangoli Competition with theme- Immunity, was conducted by Department of Microbiology, St. Francis College for Women, Begumpet in collaboration and Microbiologist society of India (National Certification).
Hosting awareness programmes offers students great opportunity to relate with community and converse about a prevention of emerging harmful diseases behaviours.
- Students of M.Sc II 6th September, 2019-Awareness on Dengue and Typhoid at St.Francis college for Women, Begumpet, Hyderabad.
- Students of B.Sc III C - Dengue awareness program, at government high school Ameerpet and Serilingampally, care hospital Musheerabad and St. Francis junior college , secunderabad from 1st – 20th August 2019.
- Students of M.Sc II- The use and misuse of Antibiotics on 24th November, 2019 at St.Francis college for Women, Begumpet, Hyderabad
- Students of M.Sc I - Awareness on Coronavirus at St.Francis college for Women, Begumpet, Hyderabad on 19th February 2020
To connect students to the real world, field trips are regular part of curriculum
- Visit to Agricultural University, Animal husbandry department. Standardization Division of Biological Products, Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University, Hyderabad, to impart knowledge about the usage of lab animals for the cultivation of viruses, testing the quality vaccines, diagnostic purpose and different routes of animal inoculations.
- Visit to Agri biotech Foundation, Rajendranagar on 13th December 2019. The main aim of this visit was to educate the students on the importance of research and its growing potential in the area of agriculture.
- Industrial visit to Indian Institute of Millets Research, Hyderabad on 08th January, 2019 for students of Advanced PG diploma in clinical nutrition and Dietetics to make awareness about how various activities related to food product processing and packing marketing of millets.
- Microbiology IDE students went on a field trip to Tripura Bio-Tech and Prathista Industry, Choutuppal, Yadadri, Bhongir, 6th February 2020. Students got the opportunity to see the Asia's biggest fermenter and were taken to quality control and quality assurance labs which enlightened them with practical exposure to industry.
- UG students visited Gayatri sugars Ltd., Kamareddy on 28th Feb, 2018.
Student driven faculty guided clubs plays a predominant role in holistic development
- Inaugural of Microbiologists Society India (MSI), SFC Local Chapter-MicroAura@ SFC , 2021.
- As a part of Spectrum Science Club, Box cricket was coordinated by the Department of Microbiology for Students and Faculty.
- Students are encouraged to become members and coordinators of Library club which organises various activities for Students and Faculty on Shastra club (Library) day.
- Microbiology department is an active member of SPECTRUM, the science club of St Francis. The department has conducted many competitions like live demo experiments, power point presentations, model making, quiz and cross word as a part of constellation fest, every year.
Students are encouraged to attend Workshops thus facilitating them with Networking Opportunities by meeting new contacts for academic growth
- Attended Two Days National workshop on “Bioinformatics” held on 24th and 25th January, 2018 at St. Xaviers College, Mapusa, Goa.
- Attended Mushroom cultivation, S biotech lab, Pragathi Nagar" on 20th Jan, 2019
- Attended Fluorescent In Situ Hybridization (FISH) workshop was held on 7th December 2019 at Tapadia Diagnostics, Secunderabad.
Outreach programmes promotes civic engagement by addressing societal needs and creates a partnership between the communities and the educational institutions.
- In collaboration with L V Prasad Institute, PG students help the organisation in preparation of study material for visually impaired differently abled.
- PG and UG students periodically as a part of curriculum visit Old Age Homes, government schools and try to help with their needs.

Guest lectures help students improve their learning in a more interactive, topic specific way making classes more approachable and appealing to students
- Diagnosis of Tuberculosis and Leptospirosis" by Prof. Dr. Manjula Sritharan of University of Hyderabad on 26th Nov, 2019.
- Cancer awareness for enlightening the non – teaching staff on the screening procedures and stages of occurrence of different cancers by Dr. Shireesh, Oncologist, KIMS hospital and on Migraine by Dr. Vikram Kishore Reddy Neurologist, Pratima Hospitals who gave an insight on the causes, symptoms, complications and treatment of migraine.
